I got acquainted with Alexander Zlotnik at
the time, when he was very young. My shoulders didn't have the burden of the years too...From that moment the thread of our cooperation had never been torn: every year we
set free for the fly at least one song. To tell the truth - I'm glad, that many of them
reached the sky so high that were heard by the whole Ukraine, by people from distant and
near lands.
Today Alexander Zlotnik is a recognized master of songs, one of the most
talented and active composers of Ukraine, and besides that he is delicate, sensitive; a
friend, on whom, as the saying goes, you can rely on in any life adversity.
So, dear Alexander, I wish you to stay as you are now forever and in
everything.
Vadym Kryschenko, poet-songwriter, the
Honored art personality of Ukraine.
If somebody would ask me, who of the
composers of 70's - 90's determined by his works the directions of development of
Ukrainian stage song, among few famous names I would first of all name Alexander Zlotnik.
Nearly thousand of songs is a proof to this, as well the constellation
of performers like Nazariy Yaremchuk and Oksana Bilozir, Mykola Gnatyuk and Valeriy
Leontyev, Sophia Rotaru, Liliya Sandulesu and Ivo Bobul, Joseph Kobzon, Lev Leshenko and
many others.
However, if A. Zlotnik would have written only such sings as
"Rodyna", "Gaiy, zeleniy gaiy", "Bat'ko i maty",
"Svichka", "Maku chervoni", "Muzichen'ki", "Kotyky
verbovi", "Nepovtornist" - he would still have his place of honor in the
elite of the Ukrainian stage perfomance.
Songs written Alexander Zlotnik draw his portrait for us
- the portrait of the extraordinary person - intelligent, sincere and emotional,
professional of the higher level, subjecting to him every thing he touches. And this
phenomenon has the feedback. His songs are able to excite us, listeners, to arouse sadness
and joy, to surprise us - just like for the first time! - with the beauty of world,
nature, love, to give us relief from everyday life. By listening his music, we start to
feel ourselves as a part of this infinite space, which is called Songs Written by
Alexander Zlotnik.
